Class Level Synopsis & Placement

The following is a brief outline of the skill levels trained in each of our Power Tumbling Classes. This will be used as the basis for the placement of students into the class appropriate for their given skill level.

Each class applicant is allowed one free try-out class prior to registering. During this try-out class, the instructor in charge of that class will evaluate each new tumbler or cheerleader in order to choose the class level appropriate for their given skill level.  Following the try-out class, the coach will inform you as to what level will be appropriate for your tumbler or cheerleader.

You will only be allowed to join into a class of the appropriate level to be specified by the evaluating coach!! No Exceptions!!

Power Tumbling Class Levels

Beginner Level 1

This level will focus on the most basic of tumbling skills.

Developing proper body position / lines, coordination, muscular power recruitment, body control, and basic “air-awareness” will be the main focus of this class level.

The skills trained will include: rolls, handstands, kick-overs, cartwheels, round-offs, and the beginnings of back handsprings (mainly the body position and jump). Front tumbling will also be introduced.

All new class students that do not already possess a back handspring without a spot must start in this class level!!

Beginner Level 2

This level will be an expansion of the skills learned in Beg. Level 1. The main goal will be to further develop the back handspring from the standing position as well as the beginnings of a Round-Off Back Handspring.   Level 1 students wishing to move into a Level 2 class must be tested on their round-off proficiency as well as their back handspring body position before being allowed to move up.

Intermediate

This level will focus on perfecting the connection of a round-off & back handspring and extending it into a series of back handsprings. Class members will also begin to learn the techniques involved in back tuck flips (running & standing). Front Tumbling will also be developed to a further extent.

Beginning level class members wishing to move into an Intermediate class must be tested on their round-off, round-off back handspring, & standing back handspring proficiency in order to move up.

Advanced

This level will focus on further developing the back tuck into more advance flips; such as layouts, full twisting layouts, double fulls, Arabians, etc.

Only those members with perfect back handsprings, and well-developed back tuck technique will be enrolled into this class level.
